Ja, Gene heeft het uitgevonden net als ademhalen, waarvoor wij hem binnenkort allemaal moeten gaan betalen.

Gene en Dio maken trouwens niet het zelfde gebaar. Gene steekt zijn duim naar buiten en Dio legt de duim over de niet opgestoken vingers heen.

Het teken is al heel oud en afkomstig uit de witte magie als teken tegen het afweren van het kwaad. Iedereen die aanspraak maak op het uitvinden hiervan pist volledig naast de pot.

Onderstaand het antwoord van Ronnie James Dio (in het engels) op de vraag hebt u het teken Meloik uit gevonden?

I doubt very much if I would be the first one who ever did that. That's like saying I invented the wheel, I'm sure someone did that at some other point. I think you'd have to say that I made it fashionable. I used it so much and all the time and it had become my trademark until the Brittany Spears audience decided to do it as well. So it kind of lost it's meaning with that. But it was at 1979 i was in Sabbath at the time. It was symbol that I thought was reflective of what that band was supposed to be all about. It's NOT the devil's sign like we're here with the devil. It's an Italian thing I got from my Grandmother called the "Meloik" (ed. note: not sure of the spelling). It's to ward off the Evil Eye or to give the Evil Eye, depending on which way you do it. It's just a symbol but it had magical incantations and attitudes to it and I felt it worked very well with Sabbath. So I became very noted for it and then everybody else started to pick up on it and away it went. But I would never say I take credit for being the first to do it. I say because I did it so much that it became the symbol of rock and roll of some kind.

So close and yet so far.I live at the opposite end of Ohio: South inatesd of North. As far south as it gets. The next city south of the one I live in qualifies as a Kentucky town.If I didn''t have a new work schedule, I''d go in between hours, but the hours are from 4pm to 12 am.I get to have the second most fun schedule of emergency medical services; the first being the graveyard shift, which is WAY more happening than swing shift.At least w/ 4-12, I won''t have to see that doctor who never has time to make a differential diagnosis of an ECG. She goes shopping every day, from seven to nine pm and will only come in if her patient is a Trauma 1 status.A Trauma 1 status means the patient is dying and needs immediate medical intervention. I know some people probably already know that, but I''m not sure if everyone does, so I defined it.
